Durham Policy Roundtable

Last week, the North Carolina Housing Table hosted its latest Policy Roundtable in Durham, bringing together a powerhouse mix of housing advocates, policymakers, and community leaders for a forward-looking conversation on real solutions to North Carolina’s housing challenges.

The event was moderated by NC Housing Table Founder, Denzel D. Burnside III, who guided a thoughtful and candid discussion on the barriers and opportunities shaping housing affordability across the state.

Durham Mayor Leo Williams opened the evening with a heartfelt welcome, emphasizing the city’s commitment to collaboration and community-driven solutions that ensure every resident has access to safe, attainable housing.

Attendees included Representative Ray Jeffers, Durham County Commissioner Wendy Jacobs, Raleigh Council Member Corey Branch, Bert Fox of Wake Up Wake County, Habitat for Humanity leaders, and a range of housing developers, environmental advocates, and nonprofit champions—all working together to exchange insights and build momentum toward equitable housing policy.

The Durham Policy Roundtable underscored what makes the NC Housing Table unique: meaningful dialogue that bridges perspectives and drives real action for communities across the state.
